3. New Character Alert!
One thing is confirmed that new characters will be introduced in the TV series. It might veer away from the Abrams-led canon staying true to its characteristic voyages seeking new worlds and civilizations, while exploring the dramatic contemporary themes that have been integral to the franchise. This might mean introduction of a new ship and its crew. The latest chatter about the series hints on setting the newest Star Trek series before the time of The Next Generation and after the events of Star Trek: The Undiscovered Country. There are also rumors about the series being a seasonal anthology which would mean that each season would be set in different time and space zones.
4. Star Trek Veteran Onboard!
Yes it is very much a possibility with data from 200 floppy disks owned by Gene Roddenberry, the creator of the show being discovered. There has been no confirmation regarding the content available on those disks but enough hints were dropped suggesting it could contain plot ideas or even scripts which can be employed in the upcoming series. “2016 just happens to be the 50th anniversary of the original Star Trek, anything could happen, the world will have to wait and see,” said Drive Savers director of engineering Mike Cobb.
Another face joining the crew as consulting producer/director will be of Nicholas Meyer! This was announced by co-producer Bryan Fuller on social networking micro blogging site Twitter. Nicholas Meyers, apart from directing directed two Star Trek feature films — Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan and Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country, was also involved in screenplay writing of these two movies, as well as Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home.
